About Us

The Friends of Music is a non-profit organization promoting musical excellence at Shepherd University for the entire region. We support thriving music program in our community for our families, for the Shepherd University students, and for you!

The Friends of Music is proud to be a part of one of the finest small university music programs in the United States. The Shepherd University Department of Music has dynamic leadership, a world-renowned faculty, and a committed and talented student body. These outstanding musicians have performed around the world and continue to bring exhilarating and extraordinary performances to our hometown stages. Symphonies, musicals, operas, solo performances, choral, wind and jazz groups are heard on our campus regularly and we are thrilled at the community support these outstanding student groups receive. They have been invited to Italy, Switzerland, England, France, Ireland, and Germany and have performed in Carnegie Hall, the great cathedrals of Europe, the Montreux Jazz Festival, Giants Stadium and a host of other great venues. We are proud to support such an exceptional program.

We also provide the celebrated Friends of Music Concert Series. Bringing world-class musicians to our neighborhood stage, The Concert Series has featured Leon Fleisher, Turtle Island String Quartet, The Saint Louis Brass, Angela Hewitt, Marvin Hamlisch and now the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra and the Masterworks Chorale!
