The golden age of the New York the nightclub
lives on at Tuxedo Junction

Shepherdstown, WV - The Third Annual Friends of Music Tuxedo Junction will again bring back the nostalgia of the big band era. Be there on May 7th when “Stomping at the Savoy” turns  Shepherdstown’s Bavarian Inn into a New York nightclub scene. Recalling an elegant golden age of The Stork Club, Twenty-one, Delmonico’s, The Oyster Bar at Grand Central, the Russian Tea Room and the Savoy Ballroom, the event will include many surprises.  As in the past, a silent auction of treasures and fun will run through the evening. And this year’s entertainment will also include a live auction and star the incomparable Marty Kable.

The acclaimed Shepherd University Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Mark Cook will recall sounds of the greats - Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Count Basie -  playing the unforgettable - String of Pearls, Pennsylvania 6 - 5000, When I Fall in Love, Taking a Chance on Love, I Remember You and so many more.

Helen and Jack Saum, chair and co-chair of the event, invite all who lived and loved that wonderful time to come “Come dance to some all-time favorites performed by the best big band in the region.“

The Friends of Music, a 501C3, is dedicated to supporting musical excellence at Shepherd University. All proceeds from Tuxedo Junction go to benefit the students of the SU Department of Music.
