The Glenn Miller Orchestra to play the Frank Center

Shepherdstown, WV - Friends of Music is bringing the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra to the campus of Shepherd University on Thursday, September 22, 2011. The curtain goes up at 8:00 on a program of all-time favorites including String of Pearls, Moonlight Serenade, Pennsylvania 6-5000 and Tuxedo Junction.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra is the most popular and sought after big band in the world today. With its unique jazz sound, it is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time. The present Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since; playing an average of 300 live dates annually all around the world. In January of 2011, trombonist Gary Tole was tapped as the orchestra’s music director.
