Tuxedo Junction Success

June 30, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Friends of Music’s primary fund-raiser, the Second Annual Tuxedo Junction, took place on Friday, May 29, 2009 at the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown. It was an evening of exceptional cuisine, spectacular music and beautiful decorations. As the guests arrived they were served champagne and delicious hors d’oeuvres. After greeting friends and perusing the silent auction, a dinner, which included a choice of Grilled Tenderloin of Hereford Beef or West Virginia Trout plus salad and dessert, was enjoyed by all. Dinner was accompanied by the magnificent piano playing of Dr. Mark Cook.

The Shepherd University Jazz Ensemble, including members just back from a ten-day tour of Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic, opened the dancing with the Glenn Miller hit of "In the Mood." The quality of music was outstanding, and the dance floor was crowded throughout the remainder of the evening. In all aspects, it was a successful event.

The committee, headed by Val Smith and Dr. Rob Northrup, included Esperanza Alzona, Dan Anderson, Alice Barkus, Betty Lou Bryant, Snowden Byron, David Drennen, Maggie Drennen, Mary Ann Hammann, Sue Kennedy, Dolores Lowe, Joanna Moomaw, Wanda Perry, Cindy Schott, Betty Severson and Ann Wayt. In all, nearly $16,000 was raised.
