The Friends of Music announces the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra 2008-2009 Season, featuring outstanding guest soloists, staples of the classical chamber orchestra repertoire and at least one new, beautiful or unusual piece in each program, offering something for every listener, regardless of age, education or prior exposure to classical music.

On Saturday, September 27, the Eastern Panhandle's very own professional chamber orchestra will perform Beethoven's Egmont Overture, Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez, Brahms's Hungarian Dances Nos. 5-7, Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G Minor and the regional premiere of the Danzon #2 by Arturo Márquez. This concert, sponsored by Leavy and Frank and the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra Founders, will highlight the incomparable, internationally-renown guitarist William Feasley in the poignant and haunting Concierto de Aranjuez of Joaquín Rodrigo.

The Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra continues on Saturday, March 7, 2009, with stunning selections including Mozart's beautiful Concerto for Flute and Harp in C Major, featuring Anne Munro on flute and Caroline Gregg on harp, Mark O'Connor's Appalachia Waltz, Strauss's Die Fledermaus, and Mendelssohn's Symphony #3 in A Minor, "Scottish." This performance of the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra is sponsored by BB&T, Branch Banking and Trust.

Under the direction of Dr. Mark McCoy, the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra has emerged as the premiere ensemble of its kind and is comprised of many of the finest musicians in the Baltimore-Washington area, including some of Shepherd University's stellar faculty. The orchestra's inaugural concert last March was completely sold out. On Friday preceding each concert, the Friends of Music Board of Directors will host "Lunch with Friends" at 12:00 noon at the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown. Conductor Dr. Mark McCoy and the guest soloists will speak about the Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra program and the Friends of Music. All are welcome.

The concerts will be held at 8:00 p.m. in the Frank Arts Center Theater on the campus of Shepherd University. Individual concert tickets are available now and can also be purchased as part of a subscription to the entire Friends of Music Guest Artist Series of concerts. For ticket information or to find out more about "Lunch with Friends" visit the Friends of Music website www.sufom.org or call the Friends of Music at 304-876-5765.
